Notre Dame Prep welcomes Angela Allen, Ed.D., as next Head of School

Today, the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame Preparatory School announced that Angela Allen, Ed.D., has been selected to serve as the school’s first lay Head of School. She was chosen after an extensive national search and will assume her position effective July 1, 2025, building on 152 years of leadership by the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

“Throughout the search process, I was deeply moved by the warm, welcoming spirit that defines this extraordinary community,” said Dr. Allen. “From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt the strong sense of mission and the deep commitment to forming young women of wisdom, integrity, and compassion. It was clear to me that NDP is more than a school; it is a community that nurtures each student’s gifts and calls her to something greater.”

“This is an exciting time, and we have found a new leader who personifies our School Sisters of Notre Dame charism, fully embraces our Catholic values, and will carry forward our mission of educating and empowering girls to become women who transform the world,” said NDP Board of Trustees Chair, Sister Jane Forni, SSND.

As former Associate Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Richmond, and more recently Associate Head of School at Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Allen is deeply inspired by the opportunity to lead an all-girls Catholic school. She also served as a principal and assistant principal in Hanover County and Henrico County public schools in Richmond, Virginia, at the beginning of her career as an educational leader.

Dr. Allen earned a B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Richmond, and her Doctorate in Education from The College of William and Mary.

“Our committee is unanimous that Dr. Allen is the right Head of School to lead NDP into its next chapter. She has the experience, passion and strategic vision to build on the existing strong foundation,” said Lisa Stromberg, Chair of NDP’s Head of School Search Committee.
