Notre Dame Preparatory School’s Athletics Hall of Fame honors those individual athletes, coaches, teams, and managers whose high school and post-secondary athletic careers demonstrate the dedication, perseverance, integrity, and sportsmanship characteristic of gifted athletes.

    • Zoe Bouchelle ’04: A four-year member of NDP’s varsity soccer team and four-year, All-State honoree; led NDP to its only league championship in her senior season; a 2003-04 Gatorade National High School Scholar Athlete of the Year; helped earn her Penn State team a trip to the NCAA final four
    • Sheehan Stanwick Burch ’97: A three-sport NDP athlete, Burch is best known for her lacrosse prowess; an All-American Georgetown lax player and a member of the US National Team; named to both the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore Chapters of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
    • Anita Williams Feeley ’73: A three-sport athlete at NDP who was voted Most Athletic by the Class of 1973; in addition to school athletics, where she excelled, she swam competitively throughout her youth and qualified for he Junior Olympics; until recently she competed in 5- and 10-Ks and triathlons, coming in at the top of her age group and qualifying for Nationals as a triathlete in 1986.
    • Katie Glose ’77: A standout student athlete at NDP participating in field hockey, basketball, gymnastics and lacrosse; excelled in field hockey and lacrosse at Towson University; a member of the US Women’s lacrosse team; has coached on the high school and college level.
    • Nancy Hubbard Mann ’81: Served as captain of NDP’s swim team and named Private School All-American; finalist in the National Junior Olympics; was a captain and MVP at Georgetown University; also swam at Oxford University and was a world and European masters swimming champion.
    • Lois Waring ’48*: A four-sport NDP athlete, Waring was a five-time National Ice Dance Champion and two-time World Champion; inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 199
  • 2010 Inductees

    • Holly Gaumnitz Adolph ’70: A three-sport varsity athlete in high school, Adolph taught physical education and coached at NDP from the mid-70s to the mid-80s. She returned to her alma mater in 2006 to teach math.
    • Wanalee “Jenny” Chuasiriporn ’95: A competitive golfer who was named the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year for three consecutive years; today she is studying to be a family health nurse practitioner.
    • Mary Gunning ’75: A three-sport athlete at NDP (basketball, field hockey, and lacrosse), Gunning directs the St. Jerome’s Head Start program in Baltimore.
    • Kathleen Kaiser Kasabula ’98: A stand-out lacrosse player, Kaiser was named an All-American her final year at Duke University and was recruited to the USA Women’s Lacrosse World Cup Team; she works for the Baltimore Ravens.
    • Lisa D’Ambrogi Railey ’85: While at NDP, Railey earned 12 varsity letters in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse; at present, she coaches lacrosse for high school girls and works with Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl project.
    • Doris Baugher Russell ’38: A life-long swimmer, Russell holds numerous swimming titles in multiple age groups, and at present, she is the top national swimmer in her age group.
    • Mary Jean Schenuit Travers ’50: At NDP Travers participated in field hockey, swimming, and tennis, as well as diving, for which she gained local prominence; in her later years, she trained for and successfully climbed the Himalayas.
    • Marjorie A. Voith, M.D. ’64: At NDP Voith played varsity basketball and badminton, and went on to play college basketball; as an adult, she turned to fast-pitch softball and was eventually inducted into the Washington DC Fast-Pitch Hall of Fame. Professionally, Voith is a Board Certified physician in Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Addiction Medicine.
  • 2005 Inductees

    • Mary Bartel: Long-time NDP coach and athletic director, Bartel is credited with expanding NDP’s athletic program to include 14 interscholastic sports and bringing numerous teams to championship victories.
    • Margaret (Peggy) Sherman Case ’39: An NDP phys ed instructor for 20-plus years, Case played six sports in high school and was a nationally rated basketball referee for 30 years.
    • Kathleen Altemus Franz ’86: A three-sport NDP athlete (field hockey, lacrosse, soccer), Franz now is a professional golfer and golf teacher; she won the Women’s Golf Association Championship in 1996.
    • Patricia Groeninger: Another long-time Middle Level coach and physical education instructor, Groeninger established NDP’s tennis, golf, and ML soccer teams, and ML synchronized swimming.
    • Robin Schmidt Higgins ’70: A three-sport varsity athlete and Blazer girl at NDP, Higgins continues to stay active with golf, bowling, tennis, paddle tennis, and squash.
    • Lois Lilly Jones ’43: A four-sport varsity athlete and academic honors student at NDP, Jones continued to stay active, playing croquet and tennis, throughout her life.
    • Michelle Batza Railey ’86: A standout lacrosse player for NDP and at Loyola College, Railey was named to numerous all-star teams; currently she is a competitive tennis player, marathon runner, and avid skier.

Nomination Criteria

The following criteria is required for Athletics Hall of Fame nominees:
 
  • Alumnae nominees must be a degree-earning graduate of NDP 10 years out from the time of nomination.

  • Alumna nominees must have participated in at least one NDP sport and demonstrated a period of athletic performance primarily during her time at NDP. She may be recognized for leadership, team spirit, ability, awards.

  • Non-alumnae must have made significant contributions to the growth/success of NDP Athletics.

  • Coach, trainer, or manager nominees must have held the position for five years or more.

  • A person of integrity who, by her actions, works to better our world.

  • A person who lives out the mission and philosophy of NDP.

  • The nominee may be living or deceased.
