Notre Dame Preparatory School offers a comprehensive dance program for Middle and Upper Level students exploring ballet, modern, and jazz technique with supplementary studies in a wide variety of other dance genres. A dual emphasis on both the technical and artistic training of the students provides them with not only a solid foundation but also a stimulating and enjoyable artistic encounter.
In addition to ballet, jazz, and modern dance, students in the Middle Level also study Musical Theatre, World Dance, Hip Hop, and Tap. Students participate in two dance performances each year and present student choreography in an in-studio informal performance. Students have the opportunity to participate in additional performing opportunities with the Middle Level Dance Company, which meets during clubs time during the school day.
The Upper Level dance program offers courses for both novice and more advanced dancers and includes several performing opportunities throughout the school year. Participants in the Upper Level program develop technical and performing skills through the study of ballet, modern and jazz technique and further explore topics through dance history, anatomy and kinesiology and dance composition.
