Albert Oni Named New Head Varsity Soccer Coach for Blazers Athletics
Albert Oni, Annapolis Blues Assistant Coach and former professional soccer player, will join Notre Dame Preparatory School as Head Soccer Coach, beginning July 2025. Oni comes to NDP with a wealth of experience as a coach, collegiate and professional player, and club manager. Having served as the assistant coach for our varsity soccer team since fall 2024, Oni has a deep understanding of Notre Dame Prep’s mission to educate young women so they may actualize their God-given talents to transform the world.
"Albert’s wealth of experience and unique blend of coaching and teaching skills make him an ideal candidate to coach Blazers soccer," said Steve Powers, Director of Athletics. "I look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our student-athletes and the future of our soccer program."
Prior to joining Blazers Athletics, Oni served as the assistant coach for Stevenson University’s Division III soccer program and head coach of Severn School's varsity soccer team (2013–2022), where he led the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) 'B' Conference program to three conference championships and one championship title. In addition, he was named the Anne Arundel County Coach of the Year in 2021. Since 2014, Oni has owned and operated Oni Premier Soccer Academy, LLC.
From 1994 to 1997, Oni played professionally on teams for the National Professional Soccer League, the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues, and the Continental Indoor Soccer League. In addition, he professionally refereed for the Maryland State Soccer Officials Association and the Mason Dixon Officials Association.
Oni received his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Towson University in 2008 and has taught in public and private high schools since 2009.
