Blazers Swimming captures second straight IAAM 'A' Conference Title

Notre Dame Prep dominated the IAAM 'A' Conference Swimming Championship Meet at Loyola University Maryland on Sunday, February 2, securing back-to-back titles and the ninth championship in program history with a commanding 437-point performance.

The Blazers set the tone early with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as Faith M., Carley B., Krysta B., and Shannon C. touched the wall in 1:44.88. Shannon C. continued to shine, winning the 200m freestyle (1:50.13) and 100m butterfly (54.35), while freshman Lynn E. placed third in the 100m freestyle (53.46). Betsy M. contributed valuable points with a third-place finish in the 500m freestyle (5:11.05), and Krysta B.’s victory in the 100m breaststroke (1:03.29) helped keep NDP ahead of its rivals.

The Blazers sealed their championship with a thrilling win in the 400m freestyle relay, as Shannon C., Faith M., Lynn E., and Carley B. edged out Maryvale with a time of 3:29.23. Despite challenges from Archbishop Spalding and Maryvale, NDP’s depth and teamwork propelled them to victory. Shannon C., who captured two individual and two relay titles for the second straight year, credited the team’s collective effort, while head coach Terri Byrd praised the team’s resilience, noting how the Blazers gained momentum as the meet progressed, culminating in a championship-clinching performance.
